Foundation Skills Builder Course

Many workplaces are recognising the importance of foundation skills and the impact that low skills can have on their business.

Foundation Skills Builder is a fully online, non-accredited course that gives you a starting point to learn more about this issue and how your workplace can improve outcomes. In about 20 hours of learning, you will explore:

• Foundation skills in the workplace
• Adult learning in the workplace
• Stigma of low foundation skills
• The importance of critical feedback and reflection
• Conducting a skills audit for your workplace
• Strategies to assist your workplace
• Creating a workforce development plan

You work through the reading, videos, quizzes and learning activities at your own pace and when it best suits you and your workplace. You will have 3 months to complete your learning.

A limited number of facilitated workshops will be offered throughout the state based on demand. Please contact Nic or Bruce to discuss this delivery option further.

Target Audience of Foundation Skills Builder

Foundation Skills Builder has been developed for workplace leaders who want to identify and address foundation skill challenges within their teams.

This course is intended for:

• Managers
• Supervisors
• Team leaders
• Workplace trainers

The course is not designed for employees with low foundation skill levels. Instead, it equips workplace leaders with the knowledge and practical strategies needed to:

• Recognise signs of low foundation skills
• Understand the impact on workplace performance
• Implement effective support strategies
• Improve outcomes for both employees and the organisation.

Course Timeframes

The online course will be available from 1 November, and you have three months to complete about 20 hours of learning.

TasTAFE is pleased to offer Foundation Skills Builder FREE to 100 Tasmanian workplace managers and supervisors, thanks to funding from Building Tasmania.
